Bart | Groningen

I’m Bart. Or in Polish Bartłomiej.

How was your day?

I don’t know yet. I’ll judge it in the evening. Or not at all. I try not to judge my days. If you judge it, you have to judge it according to certain criteria. But every day I’m alive is a good day.

Was there anything  that made you sad today?

Nothing in particular. Actually, such a long conversation between me and another person is not quite common in my life. I don’t get involved in a conversation with people I don’t admire or whose opinion I don’t really want to know. Small talk doesn’t exist for me.

What made you happy today?

Playing guitar and singing. At the last place I played, a man stopped and listened to me play for three songs. That made me happy. As a musician, I’m used to having an audience. But on the street it depends on the audience, sometimes you feel comfortable and sometimes you don’t. There can be a connection with the crowd or not.

What do you think about the city of Groningen?

I love the city. I came here by accident five years ago and I stayed. I never felt at home anywhere before. The city can be rough at moments but nether as rough as for example Rotterdam. The people are quite delicate and open. They greet you in the streets, which is pretty rare.

What makes you feel at home?

Home is something you can’t describe. If I knew it, it would be easier to be found.

What makes you optimistic about the future?

That I don’t know it.
